America First Moving

I am not surprised to see other negative reviews on this company and I'm not going to stop until they're held accountable. There are too many accounts online accusing them of wrongdoing. I originally paid them. They sent out a scam company to collect my things. The scam company -Barahones Moving had all kind of strikes and flags against them. Visa did not allow the payment to go through. There was also a third company - Firstline Moving. To make a long story short. I was told they'd accept a credit card. The companies they hired to move my things were not capable of accepting credit cards. I should have been told this upfront.

They presented faulty balled up paperwork(see PDF) collected my things from my home and left! I then received frantic calls from Visa about fraudulent charges on my card. It was the company America's First Moving hired to move my things. The Actual company -America's First basically was done once the paperwork was filled out but I decided since they'd lied to me and had my things stolen, I stopped payment on them. Actually Visa did. I had new cards issued. They'll come on here and say I committed "fraud" or whatever. That's a lie. They hire fraudulent companies to move people. What'd I look like sending payment to a company that has been deemed a scammer. You can look upUGCcontent on Google, Tik Tok and basically any other platform. This is NOT a reliable company. Igf you want your job contracted out to scammers, go right ahead but be warned. It's not a reliable business.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2437

They ruined my move from California to Texas. Original quote est. 1700 final invoice 2700 est all additional fees I was not informed about.

All damages faced:

1.) lost my screws to the bed they broke down so they could not reassemble it completely.

2.) lost two rugs 10x16 and 6x9

3.) broke my full length mirror. I paid additional fees for mirror boxes yet the boxes were square that they put into a makeshift card board front and tied two mirrors together. Obviously one broke!

4.) broke my ottoman- the heal

5.) cracked my end table granite top and tried to hot glue it back together.

When the movers came to my home, I felt I was being scammed. Their priority was to inform me of all the additional costs, then with delinquency, dismissive and a careless attitude miss packed all my large furniture items. I have faced an est. of 600.00 damages. The company does not cover damages, so it looks like I will not get any retribution.

Please save yourself the heartache! Do not use them!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2800

On July 11th I spoke with a man named chris baker who I have to come realize sweet talked and manipulated me into hiring this company for my sons move from New Jersey to Florida for college. I did not realize that I was using a broker at the time. He moves you through the contract quickly in an effort to not see all the fine print. I was told that August 5th was the pick up date to ensure a delivery for the 13th through 15th. They did not give me a choice with the pick up date. I called and emailed them many times between the 5th and 13th to confirm the date of delivery but no one answered me until yesterday. I have called them twice today and the second time I was told that they don’t have the load ticket for my belongings. They keep telling me they are working on it. Meanwhile my son has all his furniture, all his clothes and everything he needs to start the semester on Monday in the moving truck. I am so disappointed in this company. I have read some reviews that are stating they have experienced the same situation. When I call they belittle me and do not care of our situation. They just keep quoting the contract and say nothing about the facts that were told to us regarding delivery. Additionally the charged me additional money for booking with them. A cost that was never told to me until they took all my belongings. Save yourself ALOT of stress,money and aggravation…..don’t book with these people.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $2400

I understand there are usually more negative reviews than positive. But this MUST be said. My first contact with this company, I was asked to give a list of items, size of house etc and being an experienced moving company they were able to have a fairly clear idea of amount of belongings. I was told I would I would be contacted before the move for an itemized review, NO, ask for an itemized review on the very 1st phone call!!!! I was quoted an affordable price on 1st phone call, promised and told all sorts of wonderful things and naturally ready to sign on dotted line. Don't belike me! 2 days before our move, when we gave the itemized list, the price quadrupled! Went from 4k to 16k and it was an in state 70 mile move. In our panic, I began making calls and a reliable mover came to our rescue! I might add when we gasped at 16k they lowered it to 12k!

Luckily this reliable mover was available.

This all took place during my work day as a nurse. Would you want a nurse caring for you being distracted by this? Would you want this to happen to you? No, no and no! So, don't do business with these crazy people. I'm hoping to get my deposit back for all the pain and suffering. I hope I still have a job! Good luck guys!

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $16000

I wish more than anything I had read some of these reviews before I payed this company to move for me.

The original representative gets on the phone and quotes you very low on purpose, omitting certain items, and estimating everything on the bottom side so that they'll get you to put down a deposit. I asked for clarification multiple times on what he needed an inventory of, And he assured me that it was only the very large items and didn't even ask for the size of boxes. Or any specific information about the items and quoted me $2200. They'll then call you 3 days before they pick up and your quote will triple because The new representative will want every single individual item going on the truck, even to the point of measuring length and width of every item, But they know they have you on the hook because you can't get your deposit back by this point.

The company gave me a pickup window from 5 to 8 on a Thursday. I waited around for them and they didn't arrive, They then told me they'd be there the next day, waited around all day and they never arrived. Finally, on the third day they arrived but in the only window on thenow third day that I said that I couldn't be there. I then had to miss a family birthday party for them to load up all the stuff, I witnessed them break a desk as they loaded it and they just tried to ignore it. They then told me that they misquoted me again and it was going to be another $1,500 on top of what they had already tripled.

We call customer service with my wife in tears because we can't afford all of this. They agree to take $800 off (A laughable amount after all they've done and we are still paying $700 more than the second larger quote)

I told every rep when I needed my things delivered and They all assured me that even though the contract says they legally have 30 days, that was just to protect them legally and because our distance was fairly short (550 miles) that they would shoot for the first available delivery day Or at least very close to it. They said however I needed to talk to the driver about delivery when they arrived, so I spoke to the driver and told them one the day I needed it delivered. He said they would shoot for that and it might be a few days later but heavily implied it would be on the day or very close to it.

Now that they have our things, we are over a week past the delivery date and when we call we get nothing but irritated customer service representatives who act like we're in the wrong for calling and asking. They basically told us that in the fine print of the contract they have 30 business days to deliver our items and that we should just suck it up because they can get here whenever they feel like getting here, So my wife and I are now living on an air mattress in a completely empty house for who knows how long.

My wife and I are absolutely sick over the amount of money this company has stolen from us only for them to be unhelpful, un-empathetic, at best incompetent and at worst deliberately deceitful.

I'm wringing my hands over what my belongings are going to look like when they arrive because I have no doubt they'll be mangled.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4500

TOTAL SCAM!!!! This company is a joke. They are brokers, so they contract out. Everything they tell you means nothing. Whatever contract you sign with them means nothing. The only thing that matters is the contract you sign with an actual moving company ( that you don't choose) and you don't sign their contract until all your things are loaded. Moved from AZ to SC, America First told us our things would be here 5 days after pick up. The actual moving company told us at pick up it would be 22 business days. At that piont, we had no other options. Also, they call two days prior for an accurate item and box count to sure up your estimate. When the moving company arrived our estimate doubled. Again we were moving and had no options. Total bate and switch.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $10500

1) I was charged $743.74 more for alleged “extra space needed for 150cft” that wasn’t needed. I used to run dispatch for my truck driver friend on the weekends while in school. My stuff could easily fit in 300cft. I was charged for close to 800 cft. But my stuff was actually shoved into 300cft and I have pictures and video to show it

2) my furniture arrived completely beat up and destroyed

3) my furniture was indeed delivered by a company that wasn’t Jackson Movers, making the claim you’re NOT brokers a complete lie

4) was yelled at by billing person for trying to pay by calling/ emailing and texting

5) missed the 21-day mark and if I hadn’t been diligent about following up, wouldn’t have ever been on the schedule

6) rude movers who did not like me asking questions and huff and puff when I tell them where things go

7) completely destroyed my plants trying to park the truck and almost totaled my car

8) Demanded payment before even parking the truck

These are my true observations and I’ll be leaving honest reviews in all platforms with my pictures. I would not choose your company even for junk removal. Not to mention I was told I’d have a weekend delivery with a 48-hour heads up and I was given less than 24hours notice from an unknown caller who said my delivery would be 3 to 5 the next day. They showed up at 5:12 and started ordering me to pay and lock my 2 small and friendly dogs in a restroom. Delivery people completely destroyed and textured my newly installed flooring and scratched and stained my newly painted walls. One was on his phone the whole time while the other snapped “no” for every answer.

America First Movers took 44 business days (65 calendar days) from our first available delivery date for them to deliver our belongings from WA to AZ. Below you will find the facts along with my thoughts following. Suffice it to say, this is NOT a trustworthy company as we were literally lied to multiple times through the process and NO ONE should use this company for their moving needs. The company wouldn’t even bother to fairly compensate me for the extreme trauma they put me and my family through. I’m a believer that things can always be made right, but after several months, it is clear that this company has no desire to make things right, they just want to get your non-refundable deposit, get you stuck with them, and screw you over however they can. I can confidently say that any 5-star review for this company is completely fake.

Here are the facts:

- Belongings picked up on 6/5/23 with a first available delivery date of 6/16/23.

- They said they legally have 30 business until they compensate us in an amount of $15 - $30 per day beyond the first available delivery date. 30 business days following 6/16 would be 7/31, accounting for 7/4 as a non-business day.

- We did not receive our belongings until 8/20/23 - 44 business days/65 calendar days from 6/16/23

- Several items arrived beyond repair or did not arrive at all

- The company they use to compensate for loss/damages offered me $74.00 for the loss/damage incurred (for reference, there was thousands of dollars worth of loss/damage done to our belongings)

Every time I was on the phone with them, I was always told essentially the same thing - that my case was being worked on - always kicking the can down the road. On Friday, July 21st, 2023 (5 weeks from first delivery date), I was told “they are loading the truck and traveling this weekend” - finally some relief! Little did I know that they were simply kicking the can down the road once again. I call Monday, July 24th, 2023 because I had not received a call that the moving truck had left yet and wouldn’t you believe it? I’m told that the moving company is “working on a plan” - so now not only was the can is kicked down the road once again, I was literally lied to. The week of July 24th thru July 28th I was told several more times that the truck was going to be loaded and on its way that week. However, I did not receive my belongs that week, so lied to a SECOND time. I called on Monday, July, 31st and was told that the truck was on its way - great! I called at about 11am on Tuesday, August 1st confirming that the truck was still on its way and I was told that the truck had not been loaded - so I was lied to a THIRD time.

Additionally, my original “binding estimate” (which is apparently in no way at all binding) increased by THOUSANDS of dollars - somewhere in the vicinity of a 75% increase, even though I did not increase the cubic footage by 75%, or even close to that. When my items were picked up, the four men were nice enough, although they did DROP my washing machine upon moving it from the laundry room to the truck, I literally watched water leak out of it, and they said “oh it’s no big deal, it’s just excess water in the line.” Luckily it actually works. When I went to sign the litany of documents, you’re pretty much stuck - they know you have no other choice other than to sign the documents and they can play with the cost however they see fit - very shady (and, my all-in cost ended up increasing by thousands - by roughly $4,800, from $7,750 to $12,550) - and I genuinely felt like I was signing under duress because, well, I needed my stuff moved and didn’t have any other option at that point as the sale of our house was closing the next day.

Upon delivery to our new house in AZ, once belongings were delivered, it looked as if they had just thrown everything into the truck - our items were not treated well. Once everything was delivered into our house, I noticed only 2 of the 3 pieces of our 3-piece sectional was in our house. I had to physically go into the truck and noticed that one piece to our sectional was strapped in with SOMEONE ELSE’S load. Had I not gone into the truck to make sure we got everything and happened to notice that it was with someone else’s load, we would have only had 2 of the 3 pieces of our couch. Moreover, our sectional has tears that are beyond repair.

This is not a trustworthy company. Frankly they shouldn’t even be in business. I’m glad we actually ended up just getting our stuff, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there have been several families who have been scammed out of their belongings and taken advantage of. This is the WORST moving experience I have ever experienced. If you’ve already paid a deposit to this company, take the loss and go find another company, pay a little more in the long run, who will treat your stuff the same way they would want their stuff treated.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $12550

The worst company! Please save yourself extreme frustration and disappointment and choose any other company. After increasing the cost several times and signing a contract that said our things would be delivered in 5-15 business days with a maximum of 30. We received our things OVER 60 days later. Not only did they string us along week after week, they give us the same generic responses they reply to everyone one of their negative complaints with. We ended paying everything because we were so desperate for our things. My 94 year old grandmother slept on an air mattress for two months. Once again please just pick another company, it’s the only resolution I can have to know that other people are not taken advantage of and treated the way we were.
